The Angel Who Retired From Heaven

Sain is the Greatest Recorder, an angel who has documented every human life, every virtue, and every sin for eternity. To him, the world is a ledger with clear lines: Goodness leads to light, Evil leads to darkness. He believes he understands the order of things—until he hears the story of Leon. Leon was a man of science who died not at the hands of enemies, but betrayed by his own family and loved ones. His final regret is not that he sinned, but that he lacked the resolve to destroy the cruel world that destroyed him. And when the destruction he desired is accidentally achieved by an innocent child, Leon laughs—a sound that shatters Sain's faith. Realizing that humanity is a complex contradiction that cannot be judged simply, Sain drops his book and asks to retire. He expects to be alone, but in the space between Heaven and Hell, he finds countless others. Angels who came before him, choosing to fade away and die rather than bear the weight of this truth forever. The Creator remains silent, not out of indifference, but out of goodness. To change human nature would require stealing their freedom, and that is a sin even the Highest cannot commit. Thus, the cycle repeats. New angels will come, they will record, they will doubt, and eventually, they will join the gathering in the void. This is a story about the price of freedom, the burden of knowledge, and the eternal sorrow of a God who loves enough to let go. --- Author's Note: I'm sorry, but I actually finished this story a month ago, but I just remembered and got around to publishing it now. Awaken: The Dragon Kei, Book One of the Kei Mystery Series

This is an Original Copyrighted Work. Lyon Sable had always strived to do two things, cultivate to become a great Kei Master and find out exactly what happened to his parents on the night they were killed and find who was responsible for killing them. What he could never have expected was to be thrust into not only a War of Intrigue between Continents but also fight Immortals, become best friends with a tree, find out whether the Universe itself is alive and much more. Prolog Below: "They should have known… Looking back it was obvious, wasn't it?" The man sighed... His sorrow was so profound that the world around him seemed to blacken. Even in the middle of the biggest Armageddon to have ever hit life on Theloniaum, that sound seemed to carry heavier than any blood in the wind. He had been a boy once. He had fought until he believed he became a man. And that man grew to be viewed a hero. Even in the midst of despair the hero persevered, fighting against all odds to become a living legend. Looking back at it all, he could almost laugh at the irony. It sounded like a glorious tale to those who didn't know. To others he was invincible, the final light in the dark of the night. Only he could tell, only he could know that while the legend may live, the man who made the legend was more uncertain than even the boy he had once been. Too many things had changed, too many people had been torn apart due to allegiance, lies, death and so much more. He was a legend amongst the many but understood by very few. A familiar tearing pain burst into life in the back of his mind. It seemed even that small consolation was good as gone now. Feeling a blaze burst to life in the back of his mind he smiled bloodily. It seemed part of his group had found more enemies. His smile turned deadly, they had finally found the origin of all this. Deciding to make one last gambit he stood, facing the sight of his own personal hellscape for what he sincerely hoped was the last time. Broken bodies lay scattered everywhere he looked. Some friends, many enemies, but all faces he once knew. The ruined landscapes were mutating as he watched. Fiendish Kei gathered in some spots where creatures began to form. Other areas erupted in great bouts of elemental Kei that left rapidly forming volcanos of various elements. He idly glanced at a shadow volcano that rumbled threateningly nearby. With a wave of his hand, it disappeared. His own eyes grew a shade darker, before he could do much more, a sudden feeling hit him. He looked up, fractals of energy swirling to life in his pupils. Mortal eyes witnessing what shouldn't be possible. The laws of causality bore down on him, ready to strike down the fool who thought to surpass reality. "I guess this was how it was always going to be", he chuckled, showing the first real trace of emotion on his face in an eternity. He lowered his head. Slowly, he walked through the carnage. Debris vanished in front of him, blood flowed around him, the ground itself shredded by the sharpness of his gaze. His presence shifted. Mist started condensing around him. The pressure he exerted growing a fold with every step. The unstable Kei energy in the surroundings went into complete chaos. Lightning, hail, fire, rocks and more started raining down all around. All at once he stopped. His head raised with agonizing slowness, seeming to be held down by some unseen weight. "Whether you are the Heavens, aliens, or something else it doesn't matter. You seem to have forsaken us. In that case, I shall let everything in existence hear your screams. For no one, not even the heavens above will decide my fate" the legend muttered. The world around him exploded, Kei screaming towards him from every direction to contain his figure. He took one last glance at the ruined surroundings and the energy rushing his way. He vanished before the energy could get close. The places above had challenged him for the last time, one way or the other.
