Some of the good shit and kinda good shit in this cursed land of qidian webnovel library.
Set in a cultivation world with a Shin Megami Tensei vibe. It's doomsday & the Heavenly Dao has been corrupted. Mankind has fallen. As the last surviving human, our MC set out into this bleak world, gazing upon the flying city far above. Instead of an old man, he is helped by a talking cat, while bringing along with him a shiba inu on his journey in this foreign world. This novel mix the depressing & cheerful moments nicely. It's sad but happy, it's happy but sad.
A bit disappointed with how the story ended up being mostly light, compared to the beginning that was thick with atmosphere (literally). Still, not too bad. It's the good ol' "Nonchalant, Lawful/Neutral-Good MC in a feared identity doing stuffs that were seen as dreadful/shocking from other characters' pov."
Supernatural phenomenons and hidden plots between major powers. The story handled the MC quite nicely as he unravel the mysteries he had to face. The story gave me the feeling of being too ambitious at the start, opening too many plot threads. Nearing the end, it was quite rushed. Hopefully, the author could cover them well in the sequel. Overall, it's still an easy recommendation. Read it, unless you're allergic to the theme.
No, the story isn't about mages nor is it about hunting them. Talk about qidian's naming taste. Instead, it's about a man that was transmigrated into a world similar with a game that he had played before. He trained in seclusion until he maxed out his magic resistance. After solving the town's crisis and avenging the first person that had helped him when he had first arrived in that world, he began his journey south, meeting new people and troubles along the way. The story is more of a fantasy with some game elements. Somehow, it reminded me of Lone Wolf gamebooks.
The world of a novel that the MC had read suddenly merge with his reality. A story about an MC that try to help another MC. The novel within this novel is kinda bad, but thankfully this novel itself isn't as bad. The fandom is plagued with stupid shippers tho, try to ignore them. They somehow can't help but getting horny from seeing camaraderie between men.
Might give you some good ol' scare. The first 400 chapters are highly recommended. It loses its steam afterwards. The story juggle between being hunted and being the hunter every so often. The hunter part is not so good, but the hunted part is worth it. Passing the first major arc (post ch. 400), the tone change to a more adventurous one. Haven't checked ch. 800 and above yet, maybe something had changed.
The good thing : This is like a cultivation version of Overlord. The bad thing : This is like a cultivation version of Overlord. Various characters got many screentime, but sometimes it might feels like they got too much screentime. The MC here is not as clueless as Overlord's MC though. So far, this is still a pretty good read. I especially love the first few chapters. It gave a taste of how a story about MC who got visitors from various world could be written like.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. The MC had once saw his system at face value. But, after a series of unfortunate events, he finally understand : there's no free lunch in this world. He then always try to chose the safest choice given by the system. He was able to live a quiet life, until the author come and write this story.
