Read the title above. I only include stories that are above average (so no barely readable mtl). There will also be little to no harem. I may put stories that fail to live up to the name of evil protagonists. But I only do so to call them out.
Warlord from a somewhat wartorn version of earth gets transmigrated to a Xianxia world. It's short but a good one. Mc has no love for anyone, and will get rid of any obstacles in his path. Edit: It's poison do not read this novel. Here's my review after the fact. This is where I drop. I can't believe you sprung this nonsensical poison on us 280 chapters in the story. Are you actually joking? He's willing to eradicate his birth family, the ones who raised and nurtured him. Just because they knew his secret. But for a bimbo who also knows his secret, who he's only known for a few years, he's willing to risk it all? Wasting resources to revive her? For what? Because he's human? I thought this was a novel about a demon general, not a romance fantasy about an anti-hero. You actually wasted my time. Why spring this on us 280 chapters in the novel. You could've been a decent author and let us know this would happen ahead of time. Somehow a ruthless dictator who's responsible for the deaths of millions in his past life, is willing to risk his shot at eternal life, just because of a bedwarmer. This is unimaginable levels of disgusting poison.
After a long testing period by yours truly. I deem this novel worthy to be on my list of Evil Protagonists.Evil MC? Check! No Harem or Romance? Check! No Friendship or Familial Bonds? Check! Interesting and fun to read? Check! This story has a cliché yet unique beginning. The author has a firm daoheart and is not willing to compromise on the MC's character. There are some parts in the story that make you question for a bit, but the author makes up for that with exciting FATE dilemmas. As long as the author never goes against his core audience and decides to compromise on the MC's lack of values. Then, I will not give up on this story for the foreseeable future.EDIT: Novel is dropped/hiatus, also the quality has been on a decline and any interesting plotlines are likely to never be resolved. Author chosen to follow the money dao and not his passions. Therefore, I am no longer interested in any further works from him. Further EDIT: Seems like chapters are still being released. But the quality is meh. The author admits to using AI to write his novels, if that doesn't tell you the lack of care from the author then I'm not sure what will.
EDIT #2: It's not Good at all. Only left it here because I liked the initial concept. Before the author decided to ruin it. Has a slight romance, however it's very manipulative on the protagonist's part. So it's very interesting and bearable. It's a worthy addition to this list as long as the MC stays true to his nature (Parasite). EDIT #1: *Sigh* Never mind... he succumbed to his human nature. Expect a more anti-hero mc after chapter 40.
Another Era Defining Evil MC novel. It's one of the best in this space (though not as good as the best novel on this list). It also contains unsatisfactory parts, where mc chooses not to be rational but instead be willing to repay favors that doesn't even matter. This is one of the classics that brought evil protagonists into the forefront. So it stays on this list.
It's very good. If you're looking for a neutral evil protagonist that faces struggles and uses his advantages to his utmost ability then look no further. A quick disclaimer- Author decided it was necessary to explore the mc's past life and see the changes that made him truly evil. If this was around ten or so chapters it would be bearable. But unfortunately this lasts for more than the first 30 chapters. So you will be tempted to drop (as it is very poisonous). But at chapter 41 is when the mc reincarnated for the final time. Everything from here forward is pure evil mc. No poison, no anti-hero gimmicks. This novel is worth reading after chapter 40. You can skip and skim chapters until you reach this point. In my opinion the novel doesn't truly begin until his final life begins.
A great novel from the author of "Forgotten Times". MC is an interesting figure, but in my not the main object of my motivation for reading this novel (at least for the moment). I'm more interested in reading about the world and the other characters in the setting. They feel like humans and not mere caricatures. And the setting seems intriguing enough. All I have to say to the author, is just please don't drop this.
This story is like "My German Empire". But this one in particular features a magical world with an MC that makes the most logical decisions that are available to someone in his position. This story isn't also just a "muh modern weapons beat sword" type of novel. The MC faces strong opposition, and other enemies with abilities comparable to him. Give it a try if you want to see an evil mc in a world of magic.
This is a good seedling. The mc is ruthless & power-hungry, yet the author still takes great care to make the mc more relatable. The mc is not an emotionless robot, but he is also not a weak Japanese isekai mc. The world is also interesting but generic (at least for now). It's a standard cultivation world, with sects & empires. Standard cultivation system. However one thing this novel does right is the characters. All introduced characters are not mere caricatures, they resemble real people. And they don't fall into standard tropes easily. At this point I'm just waiting to see if the plot the author's crafting matches the work he's put into these characters. Because if this is the case then this novel will be a very great read. TLDR: Evil Protagonist novel where the characters aren't idiots with the setting being a standard cultivation template.
Contains a neutral-evil mc willing to do anything for power. MC has a restart cheat, and uses it to his fullest advantage. He does go through alot of struggles in order to thrive in this hellish scenario. Another thing to mention is that this novel is setup in a survival, game world type setting. Where there's a main space where participants must survive and pass various tests. Participants can also visit other worlds, and they can range from an urban setting all the way to fantasy type setting. This story is a gem, and I can't wait to read more.
When things seem hopeless, what is a man to do? As the story begins, our protagonist is suffering from a terminal illness that will bring an end to his existence. Prayers are relentlessly offered to Buddha, the temple is regularly visited, and good deeds are performed. The monks know him well and he is an avid follower of Buddha. However, a man can only bear so much before he completely collapses. A man can only handle so much stress A man can only handle so many problems A man can only suffer for so long Until he completely and utterly crumbles into pieces.... Contains a deranged protagonist who will do anything to achieve immortality!
