Chapter 1: Rebirth

All she could feel was pain. Her body felt like it had been torn apart.

Her head felt like it has been crashed by something heavy.

Samia tried to open her eyes. She thought it would be yet again another tortured day.

She opened her eyes and was startled when she realized that this was not her usually luxurious bedroom, but it looked like her bedroom from her apartment back then. Her mind went blank.

'Is this a dream?' She thought but a person doesn't feel pain in their dreams. She reasoned.

She pinched herself "Ouch... It hurts."

She frantically looked for her phone, but all she could find was her old, hardly functional phone. Everything felt familiar. She turned to face herself. Everything was the same as it was when she graduated from university. Even though her body was aching it didn't feel like it is because of poison.

"Did I reborn' She made a wild guess. She quickly unlocked the phone and it showed the date 12 September 20XX 20 years back when she was still an orphan.

She could never forget this day as it was three days before Menezes, one of the richest families in the country, adopted her.

She ran towards the mirror and looked at herself, ocean blue eyes, thin nose, plump lips, long wavy hair, and her youthful face.

Realizing the possibility she started laughing like crazy yet tears began to drop from her eyes blurring her vision.

In her past life, it started getting all wrong when she was adopted. They came under the pretense that they had no child and she was a genius who could help them in business.

She was smart since she was a child always getting first in class later when the school came to know about her situation they offered her a scholarship.

Since then she has always come first. Even in her university, she was provided with a scholarship, and with all the part-time jobs she did, she bought herself an apartment.

But she was naive and stupid, Even after seeing the coldness of the human heart since birth she believed them. They surely took great care of her but were never able to give her what she desired the most, love. They slowly made her break ties with a few people she was close to.

They made her learn all kinds of things for her to be capable of handling every kind of situation. She gradually became a person or a puppet who would follow all the commands of her parents.

Everyone befriended her because she was beautiful, wealthy, and perfect something they can never be. She knew Menezes adopting her was not a small matter but she didn't want to delve into it. She doesn't want to be in one more mess when she already had so much on her plate.

After 3 years they gave the corporation for her to handle.

They slowly started retreating behind the scenes. She knew something was fishy but what she could do?

Even though she had everything she was still trapped within an invisible force from which she could not break through. She slowly made a name for herself in the business world. Her foster parent died in a car accident when she was 33 leaving her all alone.

Unbeknownst to her, she was poisoned by someone. When they found out it was too late. The Doctors couldn't even figure out the poison and it slowly deteriorated her body.

She didn't have any energy to deal with it or to try to find out the truth because she understood that if she were to get to the bottom of this she will be walking a more hellish path.

In the end, she still died.

'It must be because my body couldn't take it anymore.' She thought.

Never in her wildest dreams, she thought that she will get a second chance at life.

" I will cherish you this time, we will live a simple and happy life." She said to no one in particular but to herself.

She showered, had a quick meal, and brewed some coffee to help with her headache. Fortunately, it quickly became much better.

She remembered that, in her previous life, at this time around she was still searching for a job as she has just graduated from university. She still had some savings with her as she always believed that they can come in handy in an urgent situation.

"I need to get a job first."

She quickly went to search for the companies who are having an interview today.

She made a list of them according to their timings dressed up and put on some light makeup and went for her first interview.

After 30 minutes.

She came out of the venue with a dejected face. One look and one could tell she was rejected.

"What the heck do they mean by overqualified and having fear of me leaving the job, they could have rejected me directly." She murmured angrily.

She thought she should not be dejected and influenced by someone and there are companies who won't lose out on such an excellent candidate like her.

Then she went for another 5 interviews the following day but was rejected by each of them for some other reason.

She left for home dejectedly.

"Why is it so hard to find a job even with so many qualifications." She said while throwing herself on the bed.

"Nevermind I will go again tomorrow if not the next day. There are so many companies in this country and I even have knowledge of the future they would surely don't want to lose out on a talent like myself right."

After comforting herself she went to the kitchen to cook a simple meal for herself. Then she took a shower and lay on her bed.

" Even if I don't get a job I can still earn a little bit from investing in stocks." She pondered. And with her knowledge of the future and experience from leading such a big company, she was sure that she could at least live a comfortable life.
