This story is fascinating. Despite being brief, the synopsis provided information on what to expect from the narrative. I am sure readers will be drawn in by the character design because of its distinctive traits. I adore how the author vividly describes each situation and makes the readers feel a connection with the characters. Overall, it was a good story. Keep it up! <3

Chapter 1: CHAPTER 1

Monalisa by Sarz and Lojay is heaven especially when you can feel the beat. Tayo was busy shaking his head to the rhythm as he drove the car to where I didn't know, he said it was a surprise anyways but what it was about I didn't know. I pulled the front seat to the back and slept for hours before we reached the airport.

"Babe...Babe.." Tayo tapped me gently to wake me up.

"Are we there?", I asked drowsily.

"Yes, because we are just starting the journey", he smiled as he opened the car door to offload our bags from the boot.

For a second I was dumbfounded because I didn't know why we were at the airport. I opened the door and went to the boot.

"Hope you enjoyed your sleep?", he asked sweetly.

Talking about being sweet, Tayo deserves an award but a lot of his friends said he was only nice to me because I am his girl. He worked at Lagos University Teaching Hospital when we met and he was able to open his private hospital last year. To be sincere I counted myself lucky to be his girlfriend because it's hard finding a guy near his thirties with these achievements.

"Yeah, a little not until you woke me up", I squared my face.

"I promise you won't regret me waking you up from your beauty sleep", he kissed me as he closed the boot.

"Where exactly are we going?", I asked curiously.

"Out of the country. You will find out where when you have your ticket"

He gave me my passport and a ticket. I couldn't express my joy because that was my first time leaving the country.

"Babe are we flying out of the country for real?", I asked to be sure I was not daydreaming.

"Yes, we are Patricia. Let's hurry up before we miss our flight".

I followed him blindly unable to contain my joy. I didn't even bother checking the ticket, going out of the country alone created a new atmosphere around me.

We boarded a plane going to Johannesburg, South Africa. It's an African country but I haven't left Nigeria in twenty-three years of my existence.

"So, why Johannesburg?"

"I want you to just be calm Patricia. You will know when we get there"

I kept on reminiscing why Tayo picked South Africa of all countries but I couldn't grasp a reason for it.

I pulled myself to him and rested on his shoulder. You don't need to tell me I know I love sleeping and I don't joke with it as long as my baby boo is right beside me.

Five hours, six hours, seven, I don't know but all I know was we got to South Africa.

Tayo pulled out his phone from his pocket to make a call I didn't know what the conversation was all about.

After being on the phone for like ten minutes he finally had my time. He looked back and gave me a wink.

"We will get out of this place, the person we are here for is here already. She will soon locate us"

"She...as in she for female?"

"Yeah, SHE for FEMALE "

"Who is she?"

"She is who we are here for"

"Don't tell me you employed a woman to be the person to take us on tour?"

"What if I did?"

Seriously, I was upset at the fact that Tayo employed a woman. We had issues at home back in Nigeria with one Anita girl who he employed as a nurse in his hospital. The girl has been a pain in the ass because I always see her advances towards Tayo but he claimed she was just being friendly. Women lurk around him a lot and I can lose him if I lose my guard one minute.

"Seriously"

"Stop being jealous, it's just a trip anyways. And I don't like this illiterate side of you"

"I am now an illiterate abi. I want to even be an illiterate Tayo, why did you"

I was still talking when he left my side with a smiley face to hug a woman from nowhere.

"Christy, look at you", he looked into her eyes and hugged her again.

I was just standing behind where he left me dumbfounded. I don't know whether I should cry or run back to Nigeria.

"Who is she?", Christy asked softly.

"That's my favorite girl", he looked back at me and smiled.

"Christy, meet Patricia", he introduced me to Christy as I found my way to his side.

"Hi, I am Christy and I am Tayo's sister"

"He did not tell me he had a sister in S.A. I only know Laide as his sister"

"Well, surprise, surprise", she smiled.

"Okay", I faked a smile because I seriously don't know whether to jump for joy or something. Tayo never mentioned having a family in South Africa and the whole surprise is a sham.

The journey to the place we were going to stay was silent. It was only Tayo and Christy that were doing the talking. The streets were lit, unlike in Nigeria, with white and black folks buzzing around the streets, giggling and laughing.

"Do you like what you see?", Christy asked referring to me as she drove.

"Yeah, the city is nice."

"Unlike Nigeria right?", she laughed, "That place is shit"

"And that's where I might have to prove you wrong sister", Tayo cut in. "Nigeria is a beautiful country too, visit the good places and you will be marveled".

"Fine, I am not ready for any argument today", she protested.

"Guess what you are having for dinner?"

"Bobotie!", he exclaimed in excitement.

"Yeah yeah", she replied.

I can't say the journey was for me because I couldn't relate to everything they were saying. I felt so invisible that I wanted to yell back at Tayo for bringing me on a boring journey like this. But thank God I have people who cared about me back in Nigeria. I was still angry when Similoluwa's text entered.

"Hello, baby girl. What's up now? Just checked your apartment and the neighbors said you were not around. Where were you? Please we need to talk. Your number has not been going through. Hope all is well".
