Synopsis

If someone gave you a chance to restart your life, what would you do?

Perhaps for some people, that's a hope for them to pay back all the suffering inflicted by those who betrayed their trust.

Or maybe a redemption of their past, foolish self. Then they took it as a way to repent their sin and changed themself for the better.

Some could do that but what about her? Maybe, a second chance wasn't always about revenge nor remission of the sins.

Chapter 1: 0 : Ending is A New Beginning

That night seems especially long and exhausting. Yellow rays gleaming from the old street lamps; gave a sheer warmth to brighten the darkness on the empty streets.

Sound of hissing cats fought over leftovers occasionally broke the silence, faint laughing from a family that opened their window and a sound of the hushed quarrelling couple from another house all blended together, just like another day.

Footsteps echoed, a shadow of someone soon emerged at the neighbourhood. A petite figure walked slowly with head hung down, hidden with a black snapback. She wore an oversized hoodie and track pants with the same colour as her hat. She paced tensely. It took her twenty minutes to her destination; a bridge with a deep river underneath it.

The girl was hesitant for a moment, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

After that, she opened her eyes; revealing determination on her eyes. She felt her heart thumping faster as she passing through the fence. Her legs almost gave up and didn't stop shaking, as a natural reaction from the heights she seen from the bridge to the river.

Her hands gripped the metal railings, she inhaled and exhaled deeply for a long time. Together with that, memories rush inside her mind.

She still remembered vividly, the first time her parents fought when she was four years old. Her father threw his phone on the wall and her mother glared at him with tears on her eyes. Their screams rang on her ears but it's like a lot of people shouting, it was horrifying.

Then, when she was seven years old, her mother said to her, "From now on, there's only mother, you, and your younger siblings, okay?"

The girl wanted to ask, "What about father?" But when she stared at her mother bottomless, dark eyes, the girl swallowed down her question and nodded.

Later on, her mother started to say another thing like, "Crying for weak. You are strong, you aren't allowed to cry, understand?"

"You are mother eyes and ears, protect your siblings. That's your duty as the oldest sister, okay?"

The girl obeyed everything her mother told her because it made her mother happy.

Still, as she older, the young sister and brother became more successful than her.

Her younger sister was smart, always got the scholarship and she graduated from quite a prestigious university. Then, she became the manager of a well-known company. As the younger brother, he found his passion and started a business. But what about the older sister?

Her life was spent on pleasing her mother wish. She gave up her love of arts and lost her job.

Life was hard, it's undeniable the society wanted a capable person ruling and countless people fought for a job with good income. For the sake of a little luxury of their life. Sadly, the older sister wasn't the best in her field.

At first, it was fine. But later she discovered her mother talking to her sister and brother behind her back. Then the mother compared the older sister with the rich daughters of her aunts.

The little girl, who matured as a quiet woman just silently accepted her mother hurtful words.

Without she noticed it, she started to put distance into her family. Sometimes, the woman heard her mother laughing with their other child from a joke that she didn't know. The woman then realized, she has no place in her family. She was never good enough.

On another day, the woman and the younger sister fought and she heard the most painful words, "Anyone who has you as an older sister are pitiful. I don't have a sister like you! Such trash!"

The harsh wind suddenly awoken her from the reverie, the woman opened her eyes. She stared down on the clean water of the river. She chuckled ironically, she feared water the most but she has chosen this place as the final stop.

She let go of her hands from the bar and flew down towards the water. Never in her entire life, she felt so free, so happy.

The river freezingly cold and numbing her body. She felt her nose and lungs burning painfully.

It was a terrifying sensation she ever tasted in her life. It was suffocating, unbearable painful and somehow she could sense death was approaching her.

Her body started to become heavy and strong drowsiness clouded her state of mind. Why struggled on desperately held her life? Her thought grew darker and she resigned to her mind.

She just wanted to sleep, forever. She let the coldness engulfed all of her body. Her vision slowly blurred, accompanied by hammering ache never left her head.

The last thing she remembered was a question. Would someone crying when they found her lifeless body?
