Chapter 1: A Fateful Encounter

5:30 pm.

Greenfield Central Park.

The sun was just setting, painting the whole world with red and orange colors. Birds flew past the trees making the green leaves fall. It was the time when the darkness and daylight fought. Legends say that every year, a god would go down to Earth and help one person by granting their wishes.

Link was sitting on a bench, staring at the magnificent view in front of him. He was gently caressing the iPhone 7 on his backpack. There was also chocolates and a bouquet of flowers on his side.

Link and his girlfriend, Annie; decided to meet here to celebrate their one year relationship.

Link was staring blankly when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He looked backwards and saw a girl, it was Annie.

He opened his backpack and took out the iPhone 7, chocolates and the bouquet of flowers. He then raised it and said to her, "Happy First Anniversary Annie!"

"This is the lousy things you want to give me?! You even made me come here. Gosh!" Annie looked at him disgusted.

"What d-do y--you m--mean Annie?"

"I'm breaking up with you!"

When those words came out from her mouth, Link felt a throbbing pain in his heart. Without him knowing, he gripped his t-shirt tightly and asked while ridiculing himself, "Why?"

"It's because you are poor!" Annie replied.

The sun went down completely and the world was enveloped with darkness. One by one, the street lamps where lit. The cold air blew past by Link's face. He looked up to the sky and with tears in his eyes, memories began to flood in.

Before buying her presents, Link had to do more jobs despite already having a part-time-job with decent income. He also had to put aside almost half of his living expenses and go to the hospital to sell his blood for a few more dollars.

Link was very familiar with the hardships of life because he was a village boy. He was born on a rural town where his parents worked as farmers.

"You'll regret this." Link said to her while still looking upwards.

"Just face the reality Link! I wouldn't be your poor-ass family's daughter-in-law." Annie said mocking him while laughing.

"YOU WOMAN!!!!" Link approached her and grabbed her hand tightly.

"You! What are you trying to do?!" Afraid witg the gaze of Link, Annie asked her.

"One day, i'll make you kneel in front of me and beg for forgiveness" Link said ather furiously.

BANG!

Suddenly a punch was thrown in the face of Link. Link tried to see who could've done it but his feet suddenly got swept by another foot which made him fell to the ground. After falling, the man still didn't get enough and continued to frantically punch and kick the alrwady badly injured Link.

"Baby that's enough, you'll kill him" Annie's voice was heard by Link.

"You're right, my reputation will get bad if that happens."

"Let's go then?"

"Yeah"

Link stood up while clutching his stomach, he saw Annie being held by a man's arm which belonged to Neil. The school's richest student.

"Neil Truman?!"

Shocked, Link still could not believe that his girlfriend got stolen by the richest man of the school.

The two walked at a parking lot and boardeda BMW X5 car. Link saw Annie being groped amd kissed by Neil. After some time, he saw that the car was shaking and was jumping up and down.

Link was sitting on the wooden bench, bruises all over his body. The worst one was the one on his cheeks which Neil stepped on. He can still see the car haven't stopped shaking violently.

The cold wind was like blades cutting on his bruises even deeper. His heart was thrown into chaos right now. He felt some warm sensation dripping from his eyes. He could see the moon on the sky, beside it was an ocean of stars shining brightly, but for Link it was all blurry because of his tears.

"Don't cry when the sun is gone, because the tears won't let you see the stars." A woman's gentle voice could be heard in the distance.

Link was not paying attention and was still staring at the sky. He raised his hands as if was he's grabbing something, but in the end it suddenly disappeared.

"It takes a strong heart to love, but it takes to have an even stronger heart to continue to love after it's been hurt."

Link looked at the beautiful woman. She wore a jacket, skirt, high heels and have a light makeup on her face. She has two blue eyes, a soft and moist lips, oval face and a silky hair.

All of a sudden the woman lost consiousness and fell down. Link was surprised by this. He went to the woman and put her into the bench.

After some time, the woman woke up. The two pair of eyes locked and a awkward atmosphere began to spread.

Growl~~

Link looked at her and began to smile.

"What?!" The woman asked him unhappily.

Link ignored her and took out his chocolates.

"Here eat up".

"Thanks, where did you get them?"

"I was planning to give it to my--" halfway through his words, he stopped and got silent for a while.

While the woman was eating, Link took out his IPhone 7 and began to test it.

"Is that an IPhone?" the woman looked over and asked him.

"Yeah" Link replied

Link stood up and was planning to go to his dormitory when his cellphone suddely vibrated.

He looked at his cellphone and was dumbfounded from what he saw.
