His face was well sculpted and all clear with a jawline to die for and It embodied the very essence of masculine beauty, he had a perfect forehead and his eyebrows were perfectly winged that they made her fingertips throb and made her a little jealous. The only place that held a little softness were his eyes, there were as dark as night but beautiful. His hair was midnight black and fell to one side of his face covering a scar she couldn't see yet. Chapter 1: In the beginning 1

Su Yan was rushed into the ER of The Meridian hospital at 9:56pm on a Saturday, he had an injury to the side of the head and his blood kept gushing out, staining the bandage that had been kept as first aid was applied. The paramedics wheeled him into the hospital with doctors fencing him on both sides, he lost all consciousness and slipped into a dark state as the pain became highly unbearable.

He was placed on supportive care in his comatose state, the doctor in charge administered glucose and antibiotics intravenously even before the blood results came out.

After two hours of feverous work the surgeon, along with the Doctor in charge of his case with the nurses got out of the operating room tired but able to breathe as a life had been saved. He was now put in an induced coma to be safe from any infection that may affect his brain as his injury had been severe.

Two weeks later…

His family surrounded him as they had for the past weeks, waiting for something good to happen. For the first time in their lives, all business meetings and appearances had been put on hold or a representative had been sent.

Angel had worry written all over her face as she looked at her big brother, pale and almost lifeless. It was hard to ever imagine he would be this vulnerable looking for he always looked so strong and untouchable. It was impossible. But in her down casted state, when she saw is hand move, she chalked it up to her wanting to believe everything would be alright so badly that she was seeing things but it happened again and she screamed awaking her mother and her sister that was also in the room

The Doctor in charge of his case rushed into the room followed by three residents and two other doctors and two nurses.

He was going to be OK.

He was moved to the VIP room of the Zhang wing of the hospital and scheduled to be taken out of the country for surgery.

Mrs Zhang Liu walked the long corridors to her sons' quarters where he had been resting, 20 days since his first surgery. A rule was set that on no condition should anyone knock on his door except it was the servants serving his food or the doctor on regular checkup. The worst was behind them and they needed to move on. Miss Tang, her personal servant followed closely until they got to the massive doors of his room and knocked. The door was open by the door man and she walked in gracefully.

Su Yan watched the field below him from his window; he watched the flowers in full bloom, blossom cherries and sun flowers. He looked far off into the distance, as far as his eyes could see and it was all green grass and the flowers appeared dotted from where he was. Grand ma Zhang loved planting flowers around the estate, it was all she could do now as she had lost her voice four years ago and his grandfather was no more. Some say that is the reason for her condition.

It was a good day to be alive. The news was all over Shanghai about his accident, people praised him for not fighting back on the Yang family or suing them, silence has been his watchword and he did it on purpose. Knowing Yang Mi she would be a nervous wreck when she knows nothing about what he was up to especially after she had tried her best to apologize for what she did. Her claim to the media was that it was a couple's fight that had gone sour and she had too much to drink on the night of the accident. That she could lie to the world made him wonder if the girl he fell in love with eight years ago was in there.

Either way, he was closing that part of his life forever. That was going to be her pay back.

"I hear you decided to not go in for your next surgery." his mum queried him

He turned from the window to pace the room. Below the light layer of bandage, the scar was still evidently on his face, he was growing out his hair to cover most of it and he was getting to like his new look.

"You heard right mother."

"What point are you trying to prove because whatever it is, it is useless. Ties with the Yang have been cut off completely, whatever they had with us, they have lost it all. But you are not just anyone, you are the first son of the Zhang family and the one in line to inherit–"

"I know that mother, all my life that is what I hear and know. A scar doesn't change anything."

"What will people say when they look at you?"

"Whatever they want."

"You—"

"I have made my decision and will not speak further on the matter." he cut her off firmly.

Zhang Lui walked up to her son, she stood a good 5ft8 and aged beautifully. She placed a lean gentle hand on his chin as she looked up at him.

"If that is what you want, It will be ok with us, you are still my son, scar or not," she smiled a grateful smile and dropped her hands. Liu Zhang never allows herself too much emotion but if you were lucky, you would see her smile every once in a while, and to Su Yan, it was worth it.

"Get some rest."

He nodded and went back to dreaming of nothing in particular.

Five months later.

"Bring me the globe in the study, Matthew." Su Yan called the butler from his private study. A quite elderly man in his 60s that have served the family for over twenty years.

Su Yan had been working at home as he let his body fully heal. It was a break from the outside world and it told well on him. Any work that he had to do was brought to him by his personal assistant, Roland Chow.

"Right away sir." he walked briskly and fast to the main study.

Matthew walked back with a globe of the world and placed it down in front of him. He kept his eyes on his paper work.

"Spin it." he said not looking up from his work.

"Excuse me sir?"

"I'm sure you heard me the first time, spin it."

"Okay sir." Matthew held the globe and made it spin a little.

"That is good. Do it again and make sure it really spins this time around."

Matthew wasn't getting what was happening but far be it from him to ask questions as he spun the globe again with a lot more force.

"Place a finger on anywhere you deem fit without looking and wherever that location is, do let me know."

He arranged papers in their place and covered the files he was working on. His heart was racing, what would be his fate if he stepped out of the world he had known his whole life. He went abroad to study but that was different because it was for a specific amount of time. But now he wanted to leave with no idea of when he would be back, if he would be back.

"Sir, I have a place. Nigeria."

"That is west Africa?"

"Yes sir."

He breathed in "Thank you Matthew, you may go."

He called his best friend to inform him of the location he decided on as he turned to his computer and typed in Nigeria.
